Sets of task to be done in the next 2 weeks

I have many things to be accomplished in the next couple of weeks...

1. Updating to do list as general management automatic process implementation
2. My Sustainability and Low Carbon Economy elective course's assignment (3000 words)
3. My wife Erbil visa
4. UK visa arrangement for my January departure to UK for 1 elective course in Warwick

Multi-tasking

So, for the next.2 weeks or so, I will have to do as follows.

a. Paper contest for Global Sustainable Energy, submission 28th of October
b. My MBA learning log, submission 28th of October
c. 10K Erbil Marathon on 25th of October
d. My work in Erbil as normal
e. And some other important stuffs, can't be mentioned here

Sustainability: Day 1

Start with reviewing module 1-3 then 4 and 5. Took lunch and then individual debate on EU effects as leading emission reduction. 

On Wednesday, will be interview for ads for Sustainability for low carbon economy. Looking forward to it

Travelling...

I will be going with wife to Vancouver to take my Sustainability and Low Carbon Economy. Will be there for 8-9 days and then Hongkong for 3 days (trying to relax)

Hedge fund and outsourcing service lines... (part 1)

I have been in this business for quite some time, and proven to be, amongst its ups and downs, good and challenging. In early 2008, I was trying to manage the hedge fund of 2 until 3 private investors, and the return is significantly satisfactory, about 33% for each investor each 6 months, till the time the trading company closed down in Dubai. Overall when I close the account, the total return is about 900% from the original investment.

In late 2011, I started again and this time I didn't invite anyone but my younger brother. In the end of H1-2013, our portfolio shows 275% return, better than any kind of conventional investment, such as commodities, properties and estates, etc. Now, what is hedge fund?

Hedge fund is defined as an aggressively managed portfolio of investments that uses advanced investment strategies such as leveraged, long, short and derivative positions in both domestic and international markets with the goal of generating high returns (either in an absolute sense or over a specified market benchmark). Legally, hedge funds are most often set up as private investment partnerships that are open to a limited number of investors and require a very large initial minimum investment. Investments in hedge funds are illiquid as they often require investors keep their money in the fund for at least one year.

Now, my brother is thinking to open an hedge fund service line and shall consult it with me for 'attractive business' to be invested in to yield high return (surely high risk would definitely be always associated with it). He (will) take some high risk taker private investors :)

Fulfilling my destiny

Some people say it serving the greater purpose, and some said walking the path, but I would like to define it my own, such as fulfilling my destiny. This post below is kinda different with all other post, since it's a reflection of what have been happening even before I know what I become, and will becoming. Might be interesting to read.

Right after finishing my elementary, junior and high school in my home town in Medan, I studied in so-called the best university in Indonesia, that is Institut Technology Bandung, taking Electrical Engineering, majoring Computer Engineering. So excited with the study and in the same time due to financial constraint that my family had, gotta finish it faster, or else my parents wouldn't be able to withstand the fee and the living cost for me and my brother.

I believed the quest to seek for knowledge shouldn't be stopped here, while working even from my early years in oilfield business, been trying to find a suitable post graduate course to attend; at that time, mostly confused either to electrical engineering still, or converted to petroleum engineering. Lastly, I chose the business side, and been taking global energy MBA in Warwick Business School, Univ of Warwick in UK. Still have 6 courses + 1 Thesis to finish, and now I am looking for the good place to take the DBA. DBA is an equivalent Ph.D in Business. It stands for Doctor of Business Admin.

I am not trying to be academia, but i guess it brings some feeling of satisfaction; just like a morphine that mixed with blood; that's how my thirst of knowledge and connecting to academic world, in the same time applying what I know from oil and gas business (or the other way around).

My wife supports me for this, cause we both know believe that I, as head of the family, must be 'someone' that is smarter, more clever, and wealthier in knowledge especially. We know that I need to progress to even higher ladder.

Portfolio

Just short sell one of the big company by market capitalization these days. My portfolio now is complete with those bough and short sold stocks, such as SLB, HAL, SSN, ZLC, and RIG

I should expect 12% on MoM growth in my portfolio towards end of the year...

Stock opens higher

Today must be one of the good day, that one of my stock opens higher yield about 12.5% profit compared to the time I bought it. Wife must be happy if I shed this news.

Planning till end of the year

So, here's my plan and wife till end of the year, hopefully...

On Aug, we will go to Erbil (transit in Dubai for 6-7 hrs), then on Sept (depending upon whether we got the visa or not), to Canada. On Oct, will be home, and Nov will be family vacation in X (still want to decide whether Thailand or Vietnam), and on December, will go to Dubai and Abu-Dhabi.

Next year, will be busy, since I have 3 residential courses in UK (January, April, and June). Then to Sanghai, China for 1 course on September 2014

The differences

When I was still holding an eligible single guy, I never really thought of buying so called "house".. instead I always invested to other things that I can't mention here in the blog for one reason or another. But hey, I am not single guy anymore...
